My wife and I along with another couple are planning a tandem trip from Pittsburg PA to Washington, DC starting June 1, 2007 and ending on or before June 10, 2007. We arrive in Pittsburg on the afternoon of Friday, June 1 and the adventure begins (well really the adventure begins when we board the Bus the evening before). We plan to do the Montour Trail first which is a 50 mile trail thsat kind of circles half of Pittsburg and continue onto the Great Allegheny Passage and finally onto the C & O Canal Towpath which brings us into the center Georgetown. This is a mostly trail adventure and skinny tires will not work so touring or wide tires are nessary. If you want to make the trip and don't own a tandem I know someone that will let you use one, so you don't have any excuses. Oh, We plan to do about 60 miles a day and we stay in hotels, motels, or B&B's (my wife likes to stay in places with hot tubs) and we eat out and we stop at all Ice Cream Stands. If you want to discuss further drop me a note and we can talk.
